About T4T for PCs and Macs

Welcome! T4T stands for Tools for Translators. It is a suite of productivity-enhancing utilities that help you get the job done faster. Each one solves a problem that you have probably encountered before. S&R, for instance, makes sure you use your client’s preferred terminology. GLO lets you produce tab-separated glossaries faster than you can type. CNV converts metric expressions to imperial ones or vice-versa. DTN converts dates, times, and numbers into the formats that you want. And there’s much more. Discover T4T on this website. Many of our tools are demonstrated with video clips that will instantly inform you how they work. Thank you for your interest. Oh yes: who are we, anyway?

THE NEW FLAGSHIP IS T4T-SRT

T4T-SRT replaces T4T-S&R and is a free upgrade. We are sending it out one by one to interested S&R owners. You do not have to uninstall S&R, both utilities can coexist on your computer. SRT takes tabbed AND table glossaries as input and can process text boxes, footnotes, and footers, too! We've been using it for a year now and it's fantastic!

THE ZIP ENIGMA

PC users: You MUST UNZIP our T4T packages. Otherwise, the installer will not "see" the utilities inside the folder you received.

We would just like to remind you that T4T utilities do not run in Office:mac 2008. Apparently, however, Microsoft has plans to reintegrate VBA support in Office:mac 2010.

T4T-GLO V1.90 ready

GLO 1.30 for the Mac apparently did not always install correctly in all Mac OSX configurations. Version 1.90 is now online. Apologies to everyone whose time we wasted. PC users are invited to download V 1.90 as well. It can generate tabbed and table glossaries. Everyone's old unlock code will still work on the same computer.

If you purchased a new Mac and it's standing next to your old Mac and you want to control your old Mac with the keyboard and mouse of your new Mac (sorry for the rambling sentence), get teleport for free. It's soooo cool. http://abyssoft.com/software/teleport/ – multiple kudos and ten hats off!

If you run Office 2007 under Vista and have problems with the T4T installer, we have workarounds. Contact us via e-mail. Also, users of certain translation memory applications that run only on PCs will want to know that SRH, a special version of S&R, can skip hidden text. It's downloadable now as a free demo and the shop will give you the unlock code.

Bloodhound virus – No longer an issue?

It has been brought to our attention that under certain circumstances, Norton Anti-Virus denies downloading of T4T utilities. Bloodhound is a hoax. We would welcome suggestions for an easy workaround. We've googled but haven't found a remedy. Thank you! Here's what Symantec recommends: click here. We have not heard any further complaints as at January 4, 2008.

T4T module changes in 2005

T4T modules have undergone considerable change in the past year, mainly due to changes implemented in the VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) Library that Microsoft ships with its Office packages. The changes involve only Macintosh users. The bad news mainly relates to GLO which doesn't work in the single-sided mode in Office 2004 because an important component of the VBA library was removed by its makers.

But some changes introduced by Apple have made life hard for us too. The original copy protection concept for T4T had to be modified because the product IDs of our modules were parsed from data that changes when a Mac user downloads OS software with the built-in software update function. In other words, T4T-S&R, say, may have suddenly started working in the demo mode after a software update.

That's annoying, of course, especially for Mac users. If you are using T4T-S&R or any other module and want to purchase an additional module, you need to trash all T4T modules plus security.T4T (also in the startup folder) and download the modules you purchased in the past plus any new ones you want to install.

When you do this, you will see a new product ID in your registration windows (it is the same for all modules) and contact us to get new unlock codes (different for each module). We have all paying T4T users on file, so we will provide you with new unlock codes for the asking. Please accept our apologies for the hassle.
